I’ll Be At Stop The Frack Attack This Weekend In Washington DC

stop the frack attack

To say I’m a bit nervous would probably be an understatement. I can walk on to a set of a television show to interview talent or onto a stage to speak at a conference without a hint of nerves, but for some reason walking into this terrifies me. I feel uneducated compared to everyone else. I feel inferior in so many ways. But then again it’s one of the main reasons I’ve made the decision to travel to Stop the Frack Attack in Washington DC this coming weekend. I have two little boys and the property that will one day belong to them sits atop the Marcellus Shale. It’s a matter of interest.

I’ve never attended a rally of any type and although this is most definitely a peaceful rally I’m still full of anxiety. I’ve mentioned before I’m certainly no Martin Sheen so getting arrested doesn’t jive with me. But I more invision sitting on a nice blanket just listening to the speakers.

A very nice woman named Angela Fox has taken me under her wing because we have a mutual interest in working together. She runs MothersForSustainableEnergy.com. The Mother’s Project has a mission that supports the children. As their advocates and protectors, we support energy sources that do not fill our children’s environment—and thus their bodies—with toxic pollutants. There is so much more to it than that so I ask that you check it out at the link above. I’m very excited to meet Angela and spend some time with her, we’re going to share a meal and this will be the highlight of my trip. I will always make time for someone that wants to talk Mom “stuff”. Especially when that mom stuff is so important.

Angela also happens to be the mother of Josh Fox, creator of the Anti Fracking documentary Gasland and The Sky Is Pink. In a sense I consider him the “Godfather” of Anti Fracking. He is a speaker at the event and the person I’m the most interested in hearing. I hope to spend some time with him as well. I think the two of us could work together in a beneficial way. So fingers crossed that works out.

All in all this will be quite an experience. I hope you will keep an eye on my live tweets @bloggersinspire and follow the blog posts I leave here each night.

I can so understand having anxiety over this, I usually do with new situations but as soon as you get there you will be just fine! At least that’s been my experience. Enjoy the trip and I will try to follow along the live tweets if I remember. Have fun! Can’t wait to hear all about it!

Any time we step out of our “norm” can be scary, but I am so impressed that you have decided to take a stand and show support for a cause you truly believe in. I am just beginning to speak out about GMO’s, so I understand how using your voice to support a cause can be a little scary.

  3. I am sure everything will be fine! I can understand being nervous though. But on a smile and enjoy your time?

  4. Mandy says:

I’m excited that you are getting this opportunity! I can understand being a little nervous, but you walk into this with the attitude that it is a learning experience and soak up as much as you can. I can’t wait to hear what you learn. Enjoy yourself.

I’ve never been to a rally either. It sounds a little scary to me too, but I’m sure you will have a blast! You should be proud of yourself for actually taking action for something you believe in. You go girl!

  6. Go into this with no fear Lee and you most certainly are not inferior. Open your mind, listen and you’ll learn a great deal, I’m sure of it.

  7. How interesting! I don’t know much about fracking so that’s something for me to research. I’ve never been to a rally before either. I live in a super small town, and I joked to my fiance that we could start an “Occupy Seaside” and be the two people sitting in my bank’s parking lot. LOL!

  8. Alison says:

Woohooo! It sounds exciting! I hope it’s everything that you hope to be, and that everything goes smoothly. I can’t wait to hear how the experience was!

  9. Marianna says:

I am so thrilled that you are going to this rally! I only wish I could be there with you. Please take lots of photos and learn tons that you can share with me when you get back. 🙂

Can I just say that I have never felt so alone! I wish you or Alison or Kim could be with me. I never have nerves and I am really nervous. I’m going to suction myself to Angela Fox.

I completely understand and hope it all goes very smoothly for you!

I think you should be very proud of yourself for finding a cause you are passionate about
